Don’t Miss the Virginia Children’s Festival, Returning for Its 27th Year This Saturday Near Portsmouth
October 1, 2015
Clear some space in your agenda this weekend, Portsmouth, because the Virginia Children's Festival is coming back to Town Point Park in downtown Norfolk for its 27th year! Much-anticipated by area youngsters, this annual festival is five full hours of family-friendly fun, designed with kids 10 and under in mind.
The main draw of the festival are the many workshops and craft stations — more than 100 of them! Spanning science experiments and crafts to nature exhibits and cooking demos, these interactive activities are equal parts educational and entertaining. Character meet-and-greets are also on the docket, with appearances by Hansel and Gretel, the Hungry Caterpillar, Sid the Science Kid!, and other kid favorites. If you'll be arriving with tiny tots in tow, be sure to pay a visit to Toddler Town, where children three feet tall and under can play in a ball pit and get up close to real trucks! And don't miss the dancing, acting, and music performances, all of which will take place upon two separate stages.
Tickets to this year's Virginia Children's Festival can be purchased online and start at $5. The festival takes place 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at Town Point Park.
