Celebrate Suffolk’s Favorite Legume During the 2015 Suffolk Peanut Fest, Returning for Its 38th Year Near Portsmouth on Oct. 8
October 5, 2015
A peanut is neither a pea nor a nut — it's a legume! But if you're a fan of this salty, shelled snack, then you're likely already aware of that fact. And you likely already have the Suffolk Peanut Fest on your radar! Returning for its 38th year on Thursday, Oct. 8, this annual, four-day-long festival "honors [Suffolk]’s agriculture heritage and devotion to peanuts, our favorite legumes," according to the event website.
Join your loved ones and head on down to the Suffolk Executive Airport for a family-friendly event that promises amusement park rides and games, tractor pulls, a demolition derby, face painting, pony rides, a petting zoo, live entertainment, and, of course, plenty of peanuts for eating! There will be competitions and contests, too, include a chalk art competition and a cornhole tournament!
Perhaps best of all, the Suffolk Peanut Fest is free to enter! Parking is available for $15 per vehicle, per entry, or for a discounted rate of $25 for a four-day parking pass. See you there, Portsmouth!
